Datejust Havana Ghost

Ref. 1601

I am pleased to offer my Rolex Datejust 36 ref. 1601 in solid 18k yellow gold, fitted with the highly collectible Havana “ghost” dial—a tobacco‑tone variant whose warm patina and subtle fading make it one of the most sought‑after vintage Datejust dials from the early 1960s. The Havana dial presents its characteristic ghosted brown hue, fading ever so gracefully across the sunburst surface. The luminous plots and matching hands retain their original lume, now aged to a creamy ivory tone that beautifully contrasts the dial’s coffee‑brown palette. You’ll also find the typical fine flaking around the edge of the dial—an expected patina on genuine Havana dials—that only adds to its character and vintage charm. The 36 mm 18k yellow‑gold case is in very good condition, its factory hallmarks still crisp on the case‑flanks. It shows evidence of a light polish in the past but has retained strong lines and thick lugs. The 2.3 mio serial on the case dates production to circa 1961. Rather than the original Oyster bracelet, this Datejust is mounted on a third‑party brown leather strap in very good condition. It’s fitted with the original Rolex pin‑buckle, stamped “Rolex” with the coronet logo—also dating to the early 1960s. There are no removable links, and the strap as‑is will comfortably fit up to a 7.5‑inch (19 cm) wrist. The watch comes with the original Rolex pin‑buckle and 3rd party leather strap. No additional box, papers, or accessories are included.
