Datejust Tropical Gilt

I am offering a truly special vintage Rolex Datejust 36 ref. 1601 outfitted with a rare gilt‑tropical dial—one of the most sought‑after “tropical” variants that only vintage gilt dials achieve after decades of subtle sun‑induced aging. The gilt tropical dial displays its original gloss surface and gold‑printed text in remarkable condition. The lume plots and matching hands have aged uniformly to a soft creamy hue, and you’ll notice the left side of the dial beginning to turn a warm chocolate‑brown tropical tone, with just a touch of light patina along the outer edge—evidence of an authentic, decades‑old transformation. The stainless‑steel 36 mm case is in very good condition and shows evidence of a light past polish that has kept its classic Datejust profile and elegant faceting on the lugs. The 1.0 mio serial on the case places its production around 1965. It is mounted on its original folded‑link Jubilee bracelet with a Fliplock‑style clasp. The bracelet remains in very good condition and is beautifully proportioned; it currently fits up to a 7 inch (≈ 17.8 cm) wrist. (Bracelet code and end‑link code markings are not present.)
